All Year Round – Harvest Festival

Apple pressing in full swing!

Apple pressing in full swing!

We had a wonderful time during our recent All Year Round Harvest Festival celebration.

Lenshina and Ian bought along their home made apple press and several people bought along apples. Soon the group were working together, washing and chopping apples, crushing them into pulp (using the low-tech but effective method of bashing them in a bucket with a large stick!) then transferring them to the press for the final extraction of juice. Much juice was drunk on the day and there was enough for everyone to take some home. Some was put aside to be made into cider for sharing at a future All Year Round.

We also enjoyed making “corn dolls” out of straw, playing co-operative games with a parachute, cooking delicious pitta bread on the fire, talking, singing, dancing, tree climbing and free play!

Our next celebration will be for Halloween, on Sunday 27th October. All are welcome to join us. Details to be posted here soon. For more information please contact us.
